New number

Well we've been rehearsing a new number to open the next Merman at the Jermyn. Last time, due to problems sourcing sheet music we opened with Jerry Herman's fabulous 'It's Today' from Mame. Brilliant as it is, it's not a number Merman ever performed, so after a lot of searching we have finally found the sheet for the 1950 number 'Gee But It's Good to be here' from Happy Hunting [Dubey and Karr]. The opening to the show has changed quite a bit and we've restaged a few numbers to make them more engaging.

We'll soon be announcing new dates for the summer and autumn, probably not at the JST but elsewhere as the festivals season kicks in.

May date to be announced soon.

We are now very close to being able to announce a May date for Merman at the Jermyn, check back in the next few days for further details.

Battersea Barge - 5th March

A rare treat is in store for you on Battersea Barge on the 5th March. Merman has been drafted in to appear in a fundraiser with the theme of music hall for Fractured Venus Productions.

To this end, we've rehearsed a few different numbers, including "Two Ton Tessie" the signature hit of the late Tessie O'Shea, by Lou Handman.

Looks set to be a good evening.

The 30th March is sold-out after two days of booking!

We are considering adding a new date to schedule to satisfy the growing waiting list. This might not be until May though.

Rehearsals come on apace

Rehearsals for Merman at the Jermyn are going very well indeed. We have managed to re-create Merman's famous medley, written for her by Roger Edens, and look forward to unleashing it to the public on Sunday.

A few surprises have found their way into the set list, even a number from a musical of today - which was very unexpected.

Back on track

After a scary bought of sickness over the holidays which left me without a belt (my trousers KEPT falling down - sorry it is still panto season) rehearsals are back on track.

Ticket sales are going well, and we look set to sell-out.

In other news I will be discussing the show, and La Merm on Radio 4's Midweek on the 16th January with Libby Purves. Tune in!
